The George Arrives at Ellesmere Port

This year Online Rock Salt has imported its biggest ever shipment of white de-icing salt from Egypt. The George arrived in Ellesmere Port on Wednesday 16th October carrying over 12,000 tonnes of salt!

As the ship was so large they had to wait until high tide to bring it into the port. This fell at midnight on the Wednesday and when the George was brought down the Manchester Ship Canal its base was only 10 cm from the bottom of the canal.

This huge shipment of salt means Online Rock Salt is well prepared for all our customer’s needs throughout the winter.

Once the salt had been discharged to the quayside our mobile packing line was ready and waiting to bag the salt into our large packs and 10kg bags. This packing line runs 24 hours at the port to make sure that Online Rock Salt has plenty of stock that can be sent out on a next day basis to our customers when the snow and ice hit.

We make every effort to make sure that when the snow and ice hit we can provide our customers with the best possible service to make sure their paths stay clear of snow and ice. Give the office a call on 01695 425 038 so that we can help you prepare for the winter ahead.
